The companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) were Arabs with sound understanding and innate disposition. Therefore, they practiced the principles of jurisprudence without the need for rules. However, when non-Arabs entered Islam, incorrect understanding of religion began to appear due to errors in understanding some vocabulary, as well as the spread of bias towards certain opinions. Thus, scholars began to collect the rules of the principles of jurisprudence in order to preserve the correct understanding of religion. The first book written on the principles of jurisprudence was \"Al-Risalah\" by Imam Al-Shafi\'i, who passed away in 204 AH.
